Residential Green Building Today
San Diego Green Building Council has partnered with the Pacific Coast Building conference to deliver green building education during 2015 PCBC event. Workshop will be delivered by local and national green building experts and cover the topics of:
- Key aspects of green building, unique to residential;
- Green building trends in California by residential market sector (multifamily, production home building, single family custom, affordable)
- 3rd party rating systems with overview of LEED for Homes scope and eligibility
- Financial trends including studies on value of 3rd party rating systems
- Programs and opportunities presented by GBC Chapters across California.
Participants will be able to receive two hours of CEU for the GBCI credential maintenance program

Jennifer Owens LEED AP BD+C, Jennifer Owens serves as Residential Quality Assurance manager at Green Building Certification Institute wherein she fosters quality throughout the LEED for Homes verification process. She is a local green building and smart communities advocate, engaging in green policy development, local EcoDistricts and residential green building efforts. Jennifer has also completed an extensive energy upgrade and green remodel to her own 1930’s home.
Ravi Bajaj works as the Education Manager for the USGBC San Diego, whose mission is to Inspire, Educate, and Collaborate within our community to transform our built environment to true sustainability. Ravi has professional experience in greywater installation, and as a green building consultant; while his role at the USGBC San Diego centers around education and training. He holds a degree in Earth Science from UC San Diego and is a LEED Accredited Professional with dual specialty in Existing Buildings Operations and Maintenance and Building Design and Construction (LEED AP O+M and BD+C).
Kelsey Mullen Kelsey is a trained architect who successfully completed a number of civic, commercial and residential projects, including project management for real estate developers, before moving into sustainability full time. Sustainability was always a focus of this work which led to a position at the US Green Building Council running the LEED for Homes residential programs. During Kelsey's tenure at USGBC the residential programs grew from scratch to eventually include over 200,000 LEED homes making them the most successful and fastest growing LEED programs of all time. Today Kelsey heads a consulting company focused on business strategies and market development in the sustainability space.
